Enterprise Edition Capabilities
Professional Edition users have access to several different Capabilities (tools and features). Different options are available depending on a user’s role (Full, Basic, or Viewer). You can review full Capability details in Capability Reference or review a high-level summary on the pages linked below.
Collaboration
A Full User or Basic User on the Enterprise Edition can share workflows with other users and view workflows shared with them.
A Viewer can view workflows that have been shared with them.
Automation
Automation is available as part of the Enterprise Edition and includes scheduling, API-triggered workflow runs, executing Plans, and more. Automation is available via the AAC platform, Alteryx Server, and Cloud Execution for Desktop.
AAC Platform Automation
Automation via Alteryx Analytics Cloud includes these tasks:
Scheduled Plan Run: Plan runs count as 1 run, regardless of the number of workflows or assets executed as part of the run.
API-triggered Plan Run.
Scheduled Run (not part of Plans): Automated workflow run on a schedule (for example, nightly).
API-triggered Run (not part of Plans): Workflow run triggered by API.
App Builder view of a published app by any user: An initial load of an app counts as 1 run (as does a reload of the app in the event of a session timeout).
Test Run in Sandbox (non-production) Environment.
Manual Run on Designer Cloud by a Viewer.
Scheduled email of Auto Insights Mission or Report.
Scheduled refresh of Auto Insights dataset.
Server Automation
Alteryx Server reports automation runs. Automation runs involve standard workflows, analytic apps, and chained apps.
Automation runs on Server are…
Scheduled or manually run via the Server UI.
Scheduled or manually run via the Server API.
Online and Offline Accounts
For online customers, the usage data is automatically collected and sent to AAC at regular intervals for admins to review.
Like online customers, offline customers must use AAC for licensing and billing. They must manually extract the report and load it into AAC using API endpoints on both the Server and AAC sides. For more information on how to extract and load the usage data to AAC, please go to Server Usage API Endpoint documentation.
Cloud Execution for Desktop Automation
Automation via Cloud Execution for Desktop includes these tasks:
Scheduled Plan Runs: Plan runs count as one run, regardless of the number of workflows or assets executed as part of the run.
API-triggered Plan Runs
Scheduled Run (not part of Plans): Automated workflow run on a schedule (for example, nightly).
API-triggered Run (not part of Plans): Workflow run triggered by API.
Analytic App Run by Viewer User
Test Runs in Sandbox (non-production) Environment
Manual Run (triggered via Run button): The user role is not relevant.
Security and Governance
Enterprise Edition offers enhanced security and governance settings. The Workspace Admin can access these settings on the Workspace Management page.
Capability | Description |
---|---|
Groups | Determines who can create, manage, and delete user groups. Gates the Admin Console and User Groups page. |
Audit Logs | The Audit Log capability helps users ensure visibility, governance, and compliance by accessing a 90-day record of key platform events and user actions stored within Alteryx. |
Workspace Provisioning | Determines who creates and deletes workspaces under the account. Gates the Admin Console and Workspaces page. |
API Access | Determines who can generate and use API tokens—gates the User Profile and OAuth 2.0 Refresh pages. |
SDLC Promotion | The SDLC Promotion capability supports SDLC process setup for gating who can promote/move a Package between Workspaces. |
SDLC Promotion Approval | The SDLC Promotion Approval capability supports SDLC process setup for gating who can approve Package promotion between Workspaces. |
Versioning | The Versioning capability helps users control who can manage and restore a selected workflow version. |
Audit Log Export | The Audit Log Export capability helps users centralize security monitoring and meet enterprise compliance requirements by exporting audit logs to external customer-owned storage on a regular schedule. |
Private Data Handling
Private Data Handling capabilities are accessible by the Workspace Admin.
Capability | Description |
---|---|
Private Key Storage | By default, Alteryx manages user-provided connection credentials. Private key storage allows customers to provide their key store from AWS, Azure, or GCP to store their connection credentials. |
Private Data Storage | Private data storage allows customers to replace the Alteryx-hosted file store with their cloud storage bucket in AWS, Azure, or GCP. |
Private Data Processing (Customer Hosted) | Private data processing allows customers to shift their data processing workloads out of the Alteryx Analytics Cloud multi-tenant data processing environment and into their VPC in AWS, Azure, or GCP. |
Dedicated Data Processing (Alteryx Hosted) | Dedicated data processing allows customers to shift their data processing workloads out of the Alteryx Analytics Cloud multi-tenant data processing environment and into an Alteryx single-tenant data processing environment. |
Dedicated Storage and Processing
Alteryx-managed Private Data Plane is available.
