Deployment Types
For a given Server instance there are 4 deployment types.
Single-Node Deployment
The default Server installation places the Scheduler, Engine and Server UI node on the same system. Go to System Requirements for more information on the required minimums for Server.
Multi-Node Deployment
A variation of the Server install in which the Server UI node or workers are separate nodes. Go to System Requirements for more information on the required minimums for Server.
User-Managed Mongo
A typical Server deployment makes use of Embedded MongoDB running on the controller node as the backing database for the Gallery and Service layers. For performance or security reasons, database operations can be offloaded from the Controller node, either to MongoDB Atlas or a traditional MongoDB cluster accessible within the customer's environment. For more on User-Managed Mongo with Alteryx Server, see the Community article. For information on how to configure Server to use TLS with a User-Managed Mongo installation, go to MongoDB Advanced Connection Strings.
Desktop Designer Deployment
In a Server instance, you might have many users who just have Designer with its scheduler and engine components installed. These users connect with Server via Designer and log in to the Server UI via the Server URL.
Go to Install or Upgrade Server for more information.
Go to System Requirements for more information on the required minimums for Server.
